There is great spiritual power contained within the most sacred text of Islam, the Quran. Some interpret the Quran as having illumined the East, and the Bible as having illumined the West. Nevertheless, there is a common thread between many of the major world religions, and the Quran comes to confirm and complete the previous scriptures and the previous prophets.
The Sri Lankan Sufi, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen speaks in "The Tree That Fell to the West" of a metaphor:
A rejuvenated sense of interest in the Islamic faith is foreshadowed by this metaphor, with large numbers embracing the holy way of life, and upholding its general philosophy. A number of institutions and organizations devoted to the purpose of supporting, educating and engaging with individuals have served the purpose of promulgating Islam. This post centers on one particular method, which is the distribution of Quran translations. 10 such organizations and initiatives are listed below, and linked to in the references.
1.) Furqaan Project is likely the most well known Quran distributor for free. The translation is The Clear Quran by Dr Mustafa Khattab. They seek to create access for everyone across the US in a variety of locations including hospitals, prisons, mosques, households, hotels, retirement homes, college dorms, as well as for MSAs for use in Street Dawah. In order to fund this work, believers can choose to sponsor a box of 52 translations for $104, which comes down to $2 each.
2.) Why Islam provides free educational package with a Quran with an additional five brochures on related topics. The translation is Abdullah Yusuf Ali's The Quran in English translation. Their purpose is to educate and clear misconceptions about Islam, and for you to find your purpose in life.
3.) CPS International is based in India and allows international orders for a free Quran translation. It is The Quran translated by Wahiduddin Khan. Translations are available in numerous languages in addition to English.
4.) GainPeace provides a free Quran and literature for non Muslims and new Muslims, in English and Spanish. Other resources include a biography of Muhammad (ﷺ) and a book on the Top 50 Questions about Islam. Shipping is not done outside of the US. There is also the option to sponsor Qurans as gifts for others.
5.) The Quran Project provides Qurans in small, standard and large sizes. It is a complete English translation which includes chapter introductions, biography of Muhammad (ﷺ), discussion on topics related to the preservation of the Quran, the miracles of the Quran, prophecies of Muhammad (ﷺ), a step by step guide to prayer, and many frequently asked questions about Islam. It is available for free in pdf and kindle form online.
6.) American Islamic Outreach Foundation is based in Charlotte NC provides free copies of the Quran as well as informational pamphlets in English and Spanish.
7.) IslamiCity provides Quran translations in English and Spanish, for a small fee of $0.99 which is to reduce misuse and shipping verification.
8.) Free Qurans provides Quran translations to non Muslims in the UK and US when in stock.
9.) Project Quran is an initiative by IQRAA Australia and provides free translations in English from The Quran Project.
10.) One Message Foundation provides free Quran translations in English and Spanish.
